The role of a Treatment Specialist can serve as a valuable stepping stone to various career paths within Lad Lake. Many of our current professionals began their journey as caregivers and have advanced to positions such as Unit Managers, Campus Supervisors, Educators, and Trainers.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The objective is to act as a positive role model while providing essential supervision, guidance, structure, and behavioral management to all participants in the Residential and Shelter programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as an inspiring role model for youth in our residential care initiatives.
  • Proactively create opportunities for youth to develop their skills, interests, and abilities.
  • Maintain active supervision of youth by participating in activities that resonate with their interests.
  • Organize and lead activities and daily schedules.
  • Implement crisis intervention strategies through verbal de-escalation techniques.
  • Engage with, evaluate, and document youth activities (including shift logs, incident reports, and behavioral management records).
  • Offer support to youth, their families, and associated service providers.
  • Provide transportation in agency vehicles for community-based needs and activities.
  • Uphold confidentiality in all written and verbal communications.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • A high school diploma is mandatory; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Availability to work on weekends is essential.
  • Ability to exhibit patience and empathy to build rapport with adolescents who may express aggression as a coping mechanism.
  • Confident, assertive, and sensitive in interactions with teens and staff in a trauma-informed manner.
  • Exhibit social, emotional, and intellectual maturity.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The ability to remain patient and understanding in challenging situations; capacity to identify and appreciate the positive aspects in individuals and circumstances; ability to maintain composure and de-escalate tense situations; capability to follow both written and verbal instructions; proficiency in computer use and MS Office; ability to manage multiple tasks effectively; and demonstrated sensitivity towards cultural, ethnic, and disability issues.

Physical Requirements: Duties may involve physical activity while interacting with youth in the program. In rare cases, staff may need to employ physical de-escalation techniques to ensure safety. The ability to lift up to 30 pounds is required.
