Role Overview
The Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for delivering direct nursing care as directed by the OR Charge Nurse and/or OR Director, adhering to the established policies and procedures of Las Palmas Medical Center.
In collaboration with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals, the surgical RN assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and coordinates surgical treatment strategies.
The surgical RN provides expert nursing care to surgical patients by utilizing the nursing process and collaborates with the surgical team, including physicians, to ensure quality healthcare before, during, and immediately after surgical procedures.
Responsibilities include ensuring the surgical environment is adequately prepared and providing quality care for patients. The surgical RN facilitates, coordinates, and directs the assigned surgical procedures while fostering positive working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required Licensure/Certifications:
- Current RN licensure in Texas or a compact state.
- Current BLS certification.
- Current ACLS certification, required within 6 months of hire or immediately for experienced RNs.
- Current PALS certification, required within 6 months of hire or immediately for experienced RNs.
- Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- Two years of operating room experience or two years of critical care experience.
- CNOR, NAL, TNCC certifications are desired.
