We seek a highly qualified and seasoned Development Lead with a robust technical foundation in the Appian platform (primary), along with Java, JavaScript, COTS integration, and exceptional communication abilities.

The ideal candidate will oversee an Appian development team, spearheading the deployment of innovative solutions to fulfill business goals. This position necessitates a combination of technical proficiency, leadership skills, and strategic insight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently design, develop, test, and troubleshoot new software or enhancements to existing applications.
  • Conduct requirement analysis, collaborate with various teams to refine functionalities in accordance with client needs. Demonstrate application features to the project team and stakeholders.
  • Create technical design documents and present these designs to team members.
  • Maintain existing software products and leverage knowledge of business applications. Identify and resolve bugs and deficiencies in the product codebase independently.
  • Engage in agile ceremonies. Develop user stories and maintain data on project management tools (e.g., JIRA) to optimize the software development lifecycle and boost productivity.
  • Provide development estimates for new initiatives and enhancement requests.
  • Analyze issues through data examination using SQL queries and application logs. Document root cause analysis (RCA) and present findings to the team.
  • Mentor and review the work of junior professionals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to launch new products, features, and services within established timelines and budgets.

Technical Leadership:

  • Offer technical direction and oversight for Appian development efforts.
  • Work alongside architects and engineers to design and implement scalable, secure, and efficient Appian solutions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements to foster continuous improvement.

Team Management:

  • Assign and supervise the work of offshore Appian developers.
  • Guide junior developers through mentorship.

Project Development Management:

  • Collaborate with product owners, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to grasp project objectives and requirements.
  • Develop work breakdown structures for effective project planning.
  • Participate in project standups and address challenges to keep the development team aligned. Proactively resolve any blocking issues.
  • Conduct regular code reviews throughout the project lifecycle.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process enhancement and implement best practices to improve development efficiency.
  • Be receptive to learning new technologies.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Promote effective communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment between technical solutions and business objectives.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 7-10 years of pertinent professional experience required.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in software development.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Technical Lead/Architect or Development Lead in a client-facing or consulting capacity.

Technical Skills:

  • Proven expertise in the Appian platform and the implementation of complex Appian solutions.
  • Proficiency in SAIL, Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and the creation of custom Appian components.
  • Strong understanding of systems integration and business process automation.
  • Hands-on experience in conducting Proof of Concepts.

Management Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in leading and serving as Development Lead or Technical Lead on Appian-based projects.

Communication:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Strategic Thinking:

  • Ability to align technical strategies with overarching business goals and objectives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Certifications:

  • Appian and AWS certifications (preferred).
  • Experience with additional technologies (preferred):
  • Experience in building process automation solutions using Automation Anywhere, UiPath, or other RPA tools.
  • Experience with Java SpringBoot and JavaScript.
