Job Overview

The Patient Services Coordinator II plays a vital role in supporting and coordinating various patient care services while ensuring a smooth patient orientation process for the Swedish Cancer Institute across multiple locations. This position requires a high degree of autonomy in managing a diverse range of administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Scheduling appointments for new patients, follow-up visits, ongoing treatments, and necessary diagnostic evaluations.
  • Conducting insurance verifications, securing referrals, and obtaining authorizations.
  • Preparing and maintaining comprehensive medical records for patients.
  • Addressing billing discrepancies and resolving related issues.
  • Managing multiple phone lines and effectively triaging incoming calls.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Completion of Oncology administrative training within six months of employment. An Associate Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical institution with a focus on Health Care is required.
  • Medical Terminology Certification or successful completion of a Medical Terminology course within six months of hire.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare environment is preferred (e.g., physician's office, scheduling roles).
  • Proficient in obtaining insurance verifications, referrals, and authorizations.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree with an emphasis in Health Care or equivalent educational experience.
