About the Position

The Employer Engagement Consultant plays a pivotal role in cultivating relationships with a diverse range of companies and organizations, with the ultimate goal of advancing the recruitment of George Mason University's undergraduate and graduate students into meaningful internships and full-time employment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategically advance employer relationships through collaborative efforts involving university partners, related academic departments, and the Mason alumni community.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Mason's brand and student demographics to effectively articulate the value proposition to employers.
  • Facilitate and implement opportunities for employers to network with students both on and off campus, with a focus on alumni representatives.
  • Represent the university at evening information sessions and events for designated industries.
  • Collaborate across all functions of the University Career Services team to provide a world-class career development program to benefit all undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Manage existing employer relationships to deepen recruiting efforts and ensure a meaningful recruiting experience.
  • Identify opportunities to increase hiring of graduate and undergraduate students with employers in new job functions.
  • Attend and support on-campus recruiting events hosted by employers.
  • Cultivate new employer relationships through research on emerging industries, new companies, and recruiting trends.
  • Collaborate with key partners to strategically engage prospective employers and establish recruiting relationships.
  • Travel to meet with employer representatives at their locations, as well as conferences and other networking events.
  • Increase employer presence on campus through participation in career fairs, special programs, and networking events.
  • Regularly collaborate with multiple Career Services roles to connect and assign employers to career events.
  • Assist in planning employer engagement events and track related data and trends.
  • Participate in regular cross-functional meetings to share employer trends and industry data.
  • Support on-campus programs and events to educate students about industries, career opportunities, and preparation requirements.
  • Coordinate off-campus programs and events to engage students with organizations across the country.
  • Track interactions and progress with employer engagement efforts and prepare reports.
  • Communicate industry, employer, and recruiting trends to faculty and university partners.
  • Support staffing needs for large-scale events and contribute to the University Career Services strategic plan.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in business development, sales, client management, talent acquisition, or career services, with a focus on coordinating events for college students.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with clients leading to sustained partnerships.
  • Demonstrated advanced customer service skills and ability to develop and advance relationships with new organizations.
