About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Records Supervisor to join our team at Mount Sinai Health System. As a key member of our healthcare operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of our medical records department, ensuring the accurate and timely completion of patient charts, and maintaining the highest level of data integrity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and oversee the work of medical records staff to ensure the accurate completion of patient charts.
  • Coordinate all activities related to chart availability for outpatient/clinic visits or walk-in requests.
  • Monitor the production level of the dictation service and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
  • Supervise the purging of inactive records for microfilming and scanning, and ensure that all filing activities are completed in a timely and organized manner.
  • Complete death certificates and ensure that all necessary documentation is completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Perform monthly audits to track delinquency rates, productivity, and document production levels.
  • Provide orientation and training to new employees, and counsel and discipline staff as needed.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of departmental quality improvement activities.
  • Maintain a collaborative relationship with other Mount Sinai Medical Center support functions and/or departments to provide effective and efficient medical records services.
  • Serve as the liaison with Information Technology regarding interruptions in electronic services and other problems.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient records and medical information under HIPAA and institutional guidelines.

Compensation Statement: Mount Sinai Health System provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $67,192 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need.

The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
