About the Role:We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Direct Care Staff member. As a Direct Care Staff, you will play a vital role in providing support and care to our clients with mental illness and/or developmental disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide transportation for clients as needed.
- Work assigned shifts, weekends, holidays, and overnight as scheduled.
- Perform observation of clients as directed by your supervisor.
- Assist in client education of symptoms and illness management as directed by supervisor.
- Gain certification in the management of disruptive behaviors and de-escalation techniques.
- Assist as needed in providing meals to clients.
- Assist as needed in general cleaning at the Crisis Center.
- Document all clinical notes in accordance with agency policies and within 24 hours.
- Conduct client trainings as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintain communication and awareness of current events by reading memos, e-mails, bulletin boards, and communication logs.
- Work independently and/or with teams to complete assigned tasks accurately and in a timely manner with minimum supervision.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with clients with mental illness and/or developmental disabilities preferred.
- One (1) year experience in a mental health setting preferred.
- Current Alabama driver's license and good driving record as defined by Indian Rivers' policy.
- Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
