Direct Care Specialist

Indian Rivers Behavioral Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Care Staff to join our team at the Crisis Center in Tuscaloosa, AL.
Job Summary:The Direct Care Staff will provide support and care to clients with mental illness and/or substance use disorders, working closely with the crisis team to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide transportation for clients as needed
- Work assigned shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overnight as scheduled
- Perform observations of clients as directed by your supervisor
- Assist in client education of symptoms and illness management as directed by supervisor
- Gain certification in the management of disruptive behaviors and de-escalation techniques
- Assist as needed in providing meals to clients
- Assist as needed in general cleaning at the Crisis Center
- Document all clinical notes in accordance with agency policies and within 24 hours
- Conduct client trainings as assigned by supervisor
- Maintain communication and awareness of current events by reading memos, emails, bulletin boards, and communication logs
- Work independently and/or with teams to complete assigned tasks accurately and in a timely manner with minimum supervision
- Support Organizational Code of Conduct, Standards Compliance, HIPAA, and Security Programs by ensuring job tasks are performed in a legal and ethical manner
- Maintain the confidential nature of all client and Organization-related activities
- Adhere to attendance and punctuality policy
- Comply with all standards related to safety and health
- Identify opportunities for improving the quality of services provided by the department and the organization
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with clients with mental illness and/or developmental disabilities preferred
- One (1) year experience in a mental health setting preferred
- Current Alabama driver's license and good driving record as defined by Indian Rivers' policy
- Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English
