Job Title: Direct Care

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Care professional to join our team at Indian Rivers Behavioral Health. As a Direct Care staff member, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to our clients with mental illness and/or developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide transportation for clients as needed and ensure their safety during transportation.
  • Work assigned shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts, to ensure 24/7 coverage.
  • Perform observations of clients as directed by your supervisor and document any notable incidents.
  • Assist in client education on symptoms and illness management, as directed by your supervisor.
  • Gain certification in the management of disruptive behaviors and de-escalation techniques to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
  • Assist with meal preparation and general cleaning at the Crisis Center to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Document all clinical notes in accordance with agency policies and within 24 hours of the incident.
  • Conduct client trainings as assigned by your supervisor to promote client education and empowerment.
  • Maintain open communication and awareness of current events by reading memos, emails, bulletin boards, and communication logs.
  • Work independently and/or with teams to complete assigned tasks accurately and in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
  • Support the Organizational Code of Conduct, Standards Compliance, HIPAA, and Security Programs by ensuring job tasks are performed in a legal and ethical manner.
  • Maintain the confidential nature of all client and Organization-related activities by not divulging information outside the facility.
  • Adhere to attendance and punctuality policies by allowing adequate time to arrive, clock-in, and assume responsibilities at designated times.
  • Comply with all standards related to safety and health by maintaining current TB tests, CPR/First Aid, CPI, and reporting infections and on-the-job injuries in accordance with policy.
  • Identify opportunities for improving the quality of services provided by the department and the organization.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with clients with mental illness and/or developmental disabilities preferred.
  • One (1) year experience in a mental health setting preferred.
  • Current Alabama driver's license and good driving record as defined by Indian Rivers' policy.
  • Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
