Job Description Summary

Each part-time faculty member reports to a department chair or director, satisfies criteria for accreditation, possesses subject matter expertise, and has the following instructional and institutional responsibilities:

  • Course Design and Delivery: Design and deliver courses that meet the needs of the program, incorporating college-required technology.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Possess subject matter expertise and engage in ongoing professional development to stay current in the field.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Maintain effective communication within the College and the department or program.

Job Responsibilities

The plumbing instructor will provide a learning environment that motivates and instructs students in reaching their education and career goals. This individual will be responsible for teaching the plumbing trade, advising students, and maintaining relationships within our local plumbing industry.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide instruction to students using plumbing trade experience and knowledge.
  • Implement curriculum that best meets the needs of the program.
  • Coordinate hands-on training, field trips, and activities.
  • Instruct students on mathematics used in the plumbing trade.
  • Demonstrate proper tool and equipment use, with an emphasis on safety.
  • Monitor and coach trainees while performing performance evaluations.
  • Participate in recruitment efforts, as needed.
  • Prepare students for the Journeyman's exam.
  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.

Reports to: Coordinator, Apprenticeship Programs

Qualifications

Required:

  • Successful completion of a Registered Apprenticeship Program.
  • Four years of experience in the field and recommendation of the program sponsor.
  • Demonstrated competencies in a comprehensive variety of Plumbing, Carpentry, Electrical, or HVAC techniques.

General Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • The Adjunct Assistant must have the ability to deliver a high level of interactive customer service.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships throughout the organization.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Possess proficient computer skills, including familiarity with the Microsoft Suite of Office Applications.

Working Environment

The successful applicant must be willing to work a flexible schedule at multiple sites and demonstrate the ability to work well with students, faculty, and staff at all levels within a diverse, multi-cultural, collaborative environment.
