Environmental Services Specialist

Position Overview:
The Environmental Services Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean and safe environment by managing nonhazardous waste and ensuring thorough cleaning and disinfection of various areas within the facility. This position involves working in both occupied and unoccupied patient care settings, including inpatient rooms, operating suites, outpatient exam rooms, and public areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Efficiently remove non-hazardous waste and recyclables from designated points and transport them to appropriate locations.
- Perform daily cleaning tasks such as damp wiping, dusting, mopping, and vacuuming across multiple surfaces.
- Utilize ultraviolet light equipment to disinfect high-touch surfaces, furniture, and permanent fixtures.
- Prepare beds, cribs, and stretchers as needed.
- Collect and transport soiled linens to designated areas for cleaning.
- Handle and transport clean medical equipment and supplies from patient rooms to specified locations.
- Restock hand hygiene and sanitation supplies in various dispensers.
- Rearrange furniture to facilitate effective cleaning and enhance the overall appearance of the facility.
- Use computer systems for tracking time, bed availability, and cleaning documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities and equipment status.
- Utilize communication devices as required for departmental coordination.
- Report any maintenance issues, damaged equipment, or safety concerns promptly.
- Ability to perform routine tasks following detailed instructions and established protocols.
- Competence in English communication, including reading, writing, and speaking.
- Familiarity with computer applications related to time management, tracking, and organizational education.
- Adherence to departmental cleaning standards and procedures.
- Education: A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in healthcare or cleaning services is advantageous.
