Job Summary:

The Environmental Health and Safety Manager will lead the implementation of prevention-focused Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) and security programs. This role is responsible for establishing, executing, and delivering an OpCo-specific strategy to support Sysco's overall EHS objectives, including security and crisis preparedness goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Program Development and Implementation: Provide technical, customer relations, and personnel management for major programs and projects.
  • Safe Program Management: Develop and administer the success of the FreshPoint Safe Program, maintaining a high level of safety awareness.
  • Team Leadership: Hire, review, coach, and develop safety specialist positions. Monitor work, policy adherence, and safety requirements, issuing discipline when necessary.
  • Performance Monitoring: Regularly review the team's CMP's to ensure goal achievement.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Monitor safety systems and submit reports to management promptly.
  • Accident Investigation: Investigate accidents to identify causes and determine preventative measures for the future.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accident records according to OSHA guidelines.
  • Training and Development: Implement safety awareness training for managers, supervisors, and employees, including new hire safety orientation.
  • Compliance Programs: Administer compliance programs required by OSHA and state mandates.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Assist department managers in compliance programs for DOT and EPA. Communicate with agencies and ensure successful audits.
  • EHS Goal Creation: Support EHS goal creation and drive culture, compliance, and results.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
  • Experience: 5 years of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) management
  • Skills: Ability to cultivate a proactive safety culture. Excellent communication and employee relations skills. Problem-solving ability and effective time/resource management.
