Crisis Screening Therapist Job Description

The Guidance Center is seeking a highly skilled Crisis Screening Therapist to join our team. As a Crisis Screening Therapist, you will be responsible for providing clinical assessments of children and adolescents to determine the most appropriate level of care and services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to calls from The Call Center within five minutes and proceed to the hospital if necessary.
  • Complete the Crisis Screening Assessment and related documentation at the hospital emergency room.
  • Consult with the On-Call Psychiatrist to determine an appropriate referral.
  • Secure placement at a psychiatric hospital or crisis residential if needed.
  • Provide a minimum of 15 units of directive service per work week.
  • Coordinate and communicate all after-hour screenings to funding sources and outside agencies.
Requirements:
  • A Master's Degree in the human service field, i.e., social work, psychology, professional counseling.
  • Registration and/or licensure in the State of Michigan.
  • One year of experience in providing assessment, diagnosis, and individual, group or family treatment to children and/or adolescents.
  • Proven assessment skills, experience in working with children and adolescents, and crisis intervention.
