Crisis Screening Therapist

The Guidance Center is seeking a highly skilled Crisis Screening Therapist to join our team. As a Crisis Screening Therapist, you will be responsible for providing clinical assessments of children and adolescents to determine the most appropriate level of care and services.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Respond to calls from The Call Center within five minutes and proceed to the hospital if necessary.
  2. Complete the Crisis Screening Assessment and related documentation at the hospital emergency room.
  3. Consult with the On-Call Psychiatrist to determine an appropriate referral.
  4. Secure placement at a psychiatric hospital or crisis residential if needed.
  5. Provide a minimum of 15 units of directive service per work week.
  6. Coordinate and communicate all after-hour screenings to funding sources and outside agencies.
  7. Complete all required documentation according to established timelines.
  8. Attend and participate in staff meetings.
  9. Follow all protocol and contract requirements of the funding sources and/or agency.
  10. Follow The Guidance Center's professional code of ethics.
  11. Complete twenty-five hours of training on an annual basis specific to the treatment of children and adolescents.
  12. Obtain and pass the CAFAS training within six months of executing this agreement.
  13. Participate in coordination of services with other staff, providers, or funding sources, if needed.
  14. Make referrals to Child Protective Services as required.
  15. Fulfill all other obligations of individual professional service contract.
  16. Other duties as necessary, requested, and/or assigned.
Requirements:
  • A Master's Degree in the human service field, i.e., social work, psychology, professional counseling.
  • Registration and/or licensure in the State of Michigan (LLMSW, LMSW, TLLP, LLP, TLPC, and/or LLPC).
  • Coursework, fieldwork, or job experience demonstrating one year in providing assessment, diagnosis, and individual, group or family treatment to children and/or adolescents, ages 0-17.
  • Proven assessment skills, experience in working with children and adolescents, and crisis intervention.
  • A minimum of one year post-degree experience in working with children and their families.
  • Meet requirements for Child Mental Health Professional (CMHP) credential within 120 days of hire.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • A valid driver's license along with a favorable driving record.

This is a full-time position with a salary grade of 107. The estimated salary for this position will vary based on a candidate's transferable work experience and qualifications. This position offers a market-based compensation structure and a comprehensive benefit package, including affordable medical plans, employer-paid dental, vision, and long-term disability, 401(K) with employer contribution, flexible spending accounts for medical and dependent, paid time off, 11 paid holidays, free license supervision, and eligibility for biweekly incentives.
