Job Title: Children's Crisis Program Supervisor

The Guidance Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Children's Crisis Program Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing the administrative and clinical aspects of our Children's Crisis Screening program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide supervision to staff members, utilizing a variety of treatment methodologies.
  • Manage staff and department, including interviewing, selecting, and training staff, setting and adjusting hours of work, directing work and assignments, appraising and evaluating staff work performance, handling staff complaints and grievances, disciplining employees, and making recommendations for termination.
  • Review and organize treatment records and reports, and supervise case consultations with staff.
  • Maintain daytime and after-hours schedules to ensure coverage and timeliness of service delivery.
  • Assess community needs, assign priorities, and direct and provide service when indicated.
  • Work in conjunction with inter-departmental groups to ensure smooth and consistent administration of the program.
  • Assist in the coordination of the Appeals process for consumers and guardians in the ED's with TGC On-Call Crisis Psychiatrist.
  • Work collaboratively and maintain positive relationships with staff and leadership at partner agencies, the Detroit-Wayne Integrated Health Network, the Michigan Department of Community Health, hospitals, and other treatment providers throughout Wayne County and the State of Michigan.
  • Complete documentation, referrals, monthly/quarter audits, and other required paperwork as required.
  • Participate in monthly Total Quality Management Committee meetings, actively implement the agency's quality improvement initiatives within their assigned areas, monitor the implementation and adherence to the established quality improvement initiatives, activities, and policies.
  • Provide constant and consistent feedback to staff regarding performance.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and keep records of such.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision of staff.
  • Assume responsibility for reports required by the agency or funding sources.
  • Participate in assessment of community needs and consult with community organizations as needed.
  • Act as liaison and participate in agency committees as needed or assigned.
  • Complete 25 hours of program and/or position-specific training on an annual basis.
  • Work collaboratively with the Program Director and Finance to ensure funding requirements and budgetary guidelines meet appropriate timeframes.
  • Other duties as necessary or requested.
Requirements:
  • Must meet the criteria for Qualified Children's Mental Health Professional, including a Master's Degree in social work, psychology, or counseling with an LMSW, LLP, or LPC licensure from the State of Michigan.
  • At least three years of experience working with children and families in a mental health setting, with experience working in a Community Mental Health setting a plus.
  • One year of experience in a supervisory capacity preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and public presentation skills are required to interact with and develop and maintain collaboration relationships with staff and leadership at all levels at other organizations, funders, and accrediting bodies.
  • Additional requirements include excellent clinical assessment, triage, and treatment skills, the ability to handle crisis situations in a calm, professional manner, the ability to engage and maintain therapeutic relationships with clients, a consistently nonjudgmental approach that reflects cultural competency and sensitivity to the unique needs and diverse experiences of individual children and their families.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a favorable driving record.
  • Must meet requirements for Child Mental Health Professional (CHMP) credential within 120 days of hire.
