Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pro CRE Loan Specialist to join our team at First Horizon. As a key member of our commercial real estate lending team, you will be responsible for reviewing and understanding real estate loan approvals, providing thorough analysis of construction documentation, and ensuring that loan documents meet all requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review commercial real estate loan approvals to ensure all terms and requirements are met.
  • Verify loan closing documents are complete and accurate.
  • Work with bank counsel and line of business to review loan closing checklist and documents.
  • Request and review bids from third-party construction consultants.
  • Review and approve construction documents, provide comments, and forward to third-party consultant as required.
  • Interface with lenders, borrowers, attorneys, title companies, general contractors, consultants, and agents to ensure proper documentation is received for loan closings and draw requests.
  • Verify payment instructions provided by title company, agent, and borrower.
  • Maintain and update project budgets as approved at closing, track changes, and ensure funds are sufficient to complete the project.
  • Approve loan budget changes within established limits or refer loan to RM or SCO for further approval/override as provided by policy.
  • Review and approve draw requests and supporting documents as submitted by borrower.
  • Provide documentation to loan operations to disburse loan funds within established SLA.
  • Manage disbursement and payment process to and from bank participants, junior lenders, and agents.
  • Provide primary support and partnership to relationship manager (RM) and portfolio managers (PM) to ensure construction maintains strong quality while facilitating risk control measures for the bank.
  • Work closely with senior management, RMs, PMs, credit risk, compliance, and internal audit partners to ensure credit remains in compliance with bank and regulatory policies.
  • Provide setup sheets to loan operations to book, maintain, and update loan tracking system with borrower and loan information.
  • Ensure compliance with approved policies and procedures.
  • Manage loan exceptions.
  • Monitor requirements as provided by executed leases and permanent lenders.
  • Maintain working regulatory knowledge regarding flood insurance, general insurance, title issues, mechanics lien law, surveys, and bank loan documentation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 6-8 years of experience as a Pro CRE Loan Specialist or equivalent combination of education and experience in banking, construction, and/or commercial real estate.
