About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Veterinary Technician to join our team at United Therapeutics. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a critical role in the care and husbandry of our swine herd, as well as assist with veterinary procedures and support the xenotransplantation program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and document day-to-day activities of the swine herd, including herd health, nutrition, and reproduction.
  • Assist veterinarian(s) and surgeon(s) with operative procedures, including setup and tear-down, and post-operative animal care.
  • Collect, store, ship, and inventory samples from animals for health and pathogen testing.
  • Provide assistance with post-op procedures, including imaging, biopsies, bronchoscopy, and tissue procurement.
  • Maintain accurate records for animal husbandry and care activity.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in veterinary technology or animal sciences.
  • 2+ years of experience in large animal care and handling.
  • 2+ years of experience following IACUC and research protocols and working with controlled substances.
  • 2+ years of experience performing medical tests, observing behaviors, collecting samples, and administering medication to large animals.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in veterinary technology or animal sciences.
  • Licensed Veterinary Technician-NAVTA Licensed Vet Tech through the VA Board of Veterinary Medicine.
  • Working knowledge/understanding of GxP compliance.
