The National Adoption Association (NAA) is on the lookout for a dedicated Foster Care & Adoption Resource Specialist to enhance our team.

Position Summary:

The Foster Care & Adoption Resource (FCAR) Specialist plays a crucial role in guiding families through the journey of becoming foster and/or adoptive parents. This position involves providing essential information and connecting families with local resources to support children and youth within the U.S. foster care system. It is imperative for families to understand the requirements and options available to them, as well as where to seek further information regarding the significant decision of foster care and adoption.

Qualifications:

· A Bachelor's degree in social work (BSW), human services, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in human services, foster care adoption, child welfare, or a similar domain.

· A minimum of two years of relevant experience (professional or internship) in public child welfare, adoption, foster care, kinship care, or a closely related area is preferred.

· Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly desirable.

· Personal experience in foster care adoption is an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Enhancement and Support of the AdoptUSKids National Adoption and Foster Care Information Exchange System (NAFCIES).

· Engage with state administrators, tribal leaders, and their teams to facilitate access to AdoptUSKids resources and services.

· Foster opportunities for professional peer support.

· Build and maintain robust professional relationships with AdoptUSKids partners and stakeholders.

  1. Development of the Family Element of NAFCIES.

· Collaborate with the National Recruitment Response Manager and fellow FCAR Specialists to refine and enhance tools and communication strategies.

· Respond to inquiries from prospective foster and adoptive families, providing them with relevant information about available youth and state-specific processes.

· Conduct follow-ups with families to ensure they receive necessary information and support.

· Identify and recommend families for participation as AdoptUSKids Media Spokespeople.

  1. Support and Growth of AdoptUSKids Initiatives.

· Work alongside the National Recruitment Response Manager to gather and organize data for project use.

· Provide backup support for colleagues as needed.

· Participate in training sessions, team meetings, and professional development activities to enhance the implementation of the READiS model.

· Research and understand the unique needs of diverse family structures and communities.

  1. Communication and Outreach.

· Review narratives for youth photolisting to ensure safety and dignity.

· Offer guidance and support to writers on best practices in narrative writing.

· Assist in identifying families for various outreach and recruitment initiatives.

Additional Information:

This position is primarily remote, with occasional travel required for meetings. NAA conducts thorough background checks on all employees.
