Senior Manager of Environmental Engineering

Position OverviewThis position within the Corporate Environmental and Regulatory Affairs team is responsible for overseeing all aspects of wastewater management, land application, wastewater permits, drinking water, and Clean Water Act initiatives across facilities in North America. This role acts as the Company’s authority on industrial wastewater treatment processes and is tasked with supporting (or leading) permitting, compliance, and problem resolution.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the company’s leading expert in wastewater treatment technologies and operations, including the assessment and selection of suitable technologies, design reviews, facility commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Manage and/or lead permitting and compliance initiatives related to wastewater land application, Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) obligations, NPDES permits, and other Clean Water Act (CWA) issues.
- Monitor and analyze proposed regulatory changes and communicate any new requirements as they arise.
- Assist in resolving enforcement-related matters concerning water and wastewater regulations and permits.
- Engage in company-wide assessment initiatives and provide support for other regulatory programs as necessary.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferably Civil or Environmental) from an accredited four-year institution.
Experience RequirementsA minimum of 7 years of relevant experience and/or training in the design and/or operation of wastewater treatment systems.
Certifications NeededProfessional Engineer (P.E.) certification, or the ability to secure an Idaho P.E. within one year.
Additional InformationExperience in environmental compliance within industrial or manufacturing settings, particularly in the implementation of environmental programs, is preferred. Proficiency in wastewater treatment implementation is essential. Familiarity with other Clean Water Act programs is beneficial. Candidates must understand how changes in federal, state, and local regulations affect operations. Demonstrated project management skills, including work planning, budget development, expenditure tracking, and documentation of activities, are crucial. Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) are vital for discussing issues and potential solutions with operations, company management, and regulatory bodies.
