Road Construction Lead

Position Overview:

Role Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Team Member to assume pivotal responsibilities in the absence of the Paving Foreman, ensuring seamless workflow and project execution. This role demands an experienced operator dedicated to maintaining safety and quality throughout the paving operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Uphold a safe working environment in accordance with all safety regulations.
- Maintain physical fitness to perform tasks requiring lifting and mobility.
- Communicate any absences to the Foreman in advance.
- Arrive on-site early to prepare for the day's operations and conduct safety checks.
- Report daily crew attendance to the Operations Coordinator.
- Implement best practices for quality and productivity in paving operations.
- Foster positive relationships among team members.
- Lead daily briefings and stretching exercises at the start of each shift.
- Document and report any near misses promptly.
- Oversee and guide the activities of team members under your supervision.
- Monitor paving operations to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
- Assess the number of trucks needed for efficient operations.
- Calculate asphalt tonnage and mix types required for projects.
- Coordinate with Dispatch regarding asphalt deliveries.
- Verify load tickets for accuracy upon delivery.
- Ensure optimal efficiency in crew and truck operations.
- Maintain assigned equipment in good working condition and cleanliness.
- Report equipment issues to the Shop Superintendent immediately.
- Ensure equipment is parked safely and organized at the end of shifts.
- Ensure all equipment is refueled and serviced at the end of each workday.
- Ensure daily equipment condition reports are completed and submitted.
- Verify subcontractor time records for accuracy.
- Conduct daily inspections to confirm project completion and cleanliness.
- Report all incidents to supervisors and the Safety Department without delay.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Strong focus on safety and quality.
- Valid Driver's License required.
- Experience in all facets of paving and milling operations.
- Proven leadership abilities.
- Proficient in operating all paving machinery.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking.
- Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
