Food Safety Compliance Officer

Position Overview:

The Georgia Department of Agriculture (GDA) is seeking a dedicated professional to contribute to our mission of safeguarding and enhancing the agricultural landscape of Georgia. As an Agriculture Compliance Specialist in the Retail Food Section, you will be instrumental in ensuring that food safety standards are upheld across the state, thereby protecting the health of consumers.

Role Summary:

In this position, you will be part of the Food Safety Division at GDA, tasked with the critical responsibility of inspecting a variety of food service establishments. Your efforts will focus on enforcing state regulations and ensuring adherence to Good Retail Practices, which includes oversight of grocery stores, convenience outlets, bakeries, and other food-related businesses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement disease prevention initiatives and conduct thorough inspections of food service operations.
  • Evaluate refrigeration systems, monitor food handling techniques, and verify compliance with sanitation standards.
  • Gather samples for laboratory analysis and communicate compliance results to appropriate authorities.
  • Offer training and support to colleagues and food service staff regarding health and sanitation regulations.

Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants who possess certification as a registered sanitarian and have practical experience in health and food safety inspections.

  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience is required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
