Job Description:

The University of Southern California (USC) is seeking an exceptional individual to join its Technology Support team as an Assistant Director of IT. This role will be responsible for providing technical support to the athletics community, ensuring the smooth operation of game day events, and maintaining the integrity of the university's IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support for all computers, software, mobile devices, and audio-visual equipment.
  • Assist with the deployment, maintenance, upgrades, and inventory of all computers, peripherals, and audio-visual equipment.
  • Support on-site events, meetings, and game day operations.
  • Create procedures and documentation, and provide technical training for staff.
  • Educate staff on computer-related topics, including new software, hardware, and system compatibilities.
  • Maintain user accounts, permissions, and quotas.
  • Provide in-person and remote technical support and consultation to staff on software, hardware, and accounts issues.
  • Install and troubleshoot software and hardware for users.
  • Provide workstations and technical support and troubleshooting for network printers, multi-function devices, and helpdesk support.
  • Provide technology orientations to incoming staff.
  • Test new applications and programs to ensure compatibility with current systems.
  • Maintain computer equipment and related technology spaces, facilities, and venues.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and one year of experience (two years in a Help Desk IT environment preferred).
  • Knowledge of computing environments, networks, workstations/laptops, wireless communication, security software, and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of associated hardware, software, operating systems, and peripherals.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and continue learning new systems and willingness to take on additional responsibilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively in a team as needed and follow-up towards the successful completion of assigned tasks.
  • Experience with mobile devices, hosted SaaS, command line tools, ticketing systems, and scripting languages.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in higher education and/or a sports-related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with ticketing systems and scripting languages.
