About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Survey Crew Chief to lead our survey team and contribute to the success of our projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing survey crews, ensuring the delivery of high-quality results, and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage survey crews to achieve project goals and objectives
  • Plan and coordinate daily work, including equipment use, field notes, and data collection
  • Organize and utilize resources to complete projects efficiently and effectively
  • Utilize survey equipment to map features, including locations, shapes, elevations, and dimensions
  • Perform field research and retracement for boundary surveys under the direction of a Professional Land Surveyor
  • Maintain accurate and complete survey data, notes, and sketches
  • Ensure compliance with company, state, and industry standards
  • Mentor and train survey crew members on survey principles and procedures
  • Provide input for performance evaluations of survey crew members
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; land survey education preferred
  • 3-5 years of survey experience, including topographic surveys, boundary retracement surveys, and construction staking
  • Valid state-issued driver's license and clean driving record
  • Ability to work without direct supervision and make project-related decisions
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and State Plane Coordinate Systems
  • Proficiency in using survey equipment and ability to adapt to new processes and technology
  • High attention to detail, analytical skills, and effective communication
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and interpret survey maps and documents
  • Ability to lift and use survey equipment and supplies, some weighing up to 50+ pounds
  • Ability to work overtime and travel for project locations over 2 hours from the home office
