Job Title: Geologist II

We are seeking a highly skilled Geologist II to join our team at the Oklahoma Geological Survey (OGS). As a key member of our field mapping team, you will play a crucial role in conducting geological mapping of bedrock and surficial units, leading and managing project teams, and developing research opportunities in the geosciences.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct field geological mapping of bedrock and surficial units independently or with a team.
  • Lead and manage a small project team of 3-4 people conducting field work and Arc-GIS projects, including USGS GEMS databases.
  • Perform lead-PI duties for the USGS SATEMAP project, a cooperative agreement between state geological surveys and the USGS.
  • Develop and pursue research opportunities in the geosciences in Oklahoma.
  • Assist in service activities within OGS, the University of Oklahoma, and the state.
  • Participate in Education & Outreach activities.
  • Travel to project meetings and related conferences and events.
Qualifications:
  • Ph.D or M.Sc. with experience in Geoscience or related field.
