Job Summary

The Highway Engineer will be responsible for analyzing and designing roadway and highway systems, producing plans, specifications, and reports for conventional and design-build projects. This role will involve monitoring labor budgets and schedules, coordinating with discipline key task leaders and staff, and meeting project deliverable schedules and budgets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Planning and Design: Prepare project specifications, compile and analyze relevant data, and prepare complete project documents, analysis, and reports.
  • Analysis and Interpretation: Analyze and interpret data, perform analyses of design, planning, and impact studies, as well as cost analyses, design requirements, site selection, and limited design layouts.
  • Design and Documentation: Design a complete project, system, component, or process and prepare project documents, engineering analysis, and reports.
  • Quality Control and Assurance: Perform quality control reviews and ensure achievement of key milestones. Perform as-needed field reviews and observations of ongoing construction projects to maintain and increase understanding of construction practices and design applications.
  • Problem-Solving and Innovation: Formulate and solve problems with timely and innovative solutions.
  • Professional Development: Maintain professional registration and licensure by ensuring conformance with professional, ethical, educational, and discipline practice requirements. Remain knowledgeable of all applicable federal, state, and local codes, criteria, regulations, and ordinances that are pertinent to respective discipline.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
  • Licensure: PE licensure.
  • Skills: Proficient in production software and construction document production. Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to effectively interact with and build strong relationships with clients, customers, contractors, and other key stakeholders.
