Papaya Veterinary Care is seeking dedicated Veterinary Emergency Care Technicians for our Emergency Room facility in Encinitas, CA.

Our emergency facility is conveniently located near the beautiful coastline. Spanning approximately 3000 square feet, it features ample treatment areas, examination rooms, a surgical suite, and a comfortable break room for our team. As a Veterinary Emergency Care Technician at Papaya, you will bring a friendly demeanor, innovative problem-solving skills, strong medical expertise, and a proactive attitude. Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist veterinarians with outpatient and hospitalized cases, effectively triaging situations and supporting team needs.
  • Deliver exceptional client communication and education, providing feedback and receiving constructive criticism in real-time.
  • Engage empathetically with clients, vendors, colleagues, and management.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients, clients, and staff.
  • Adapt to a dynamic setting, addressing urgent or emergent cases as they arise.
  • Exhibit strong technical skills, including blood draw techniques, IV catheter placement, anesthesia induction and monitoring, and patient recovery.
  • Proactively prepare next steps for patients based on current knowledge and past experiences for veterinarian approval.
  • Review treatment plans and records to ensure the availability of necessary information and resources.
  • Discuss alternative financial options with clients before modifying treatment estimates.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment in prioritization and communication with clients, vendors, and colleagues.
  • Work independently and collaboratively to advocate for patients while providing exceptional diagnostic, surgical, and nursing care.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Valid RVT License with a minimum of 1 year of experience.
  • Preferred minimum of 5 years in veterinary medicine.
  • Willingness and ability to handle urgent cases.
  • Capability to mentor and train support staff.
  • Flexibility to thrive in a constantly changing environment.
  • Self-motivated, compassionate, and team-oriented individuals with a positive outlook and strong work ethic.
