Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Aid Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the financial aid department, including supervision of full-time and part-time staff. This role requires a strong understanding of federal, state, and college regulations and policies related to financial aid.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and train financial aid employees, including student employees, to ensure compliance with departmental and college procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) Financial Aid Programs and provide direction for additional programs as developed.
  • Analyze the Federal Direct Loan Program process to ensure administration of loans according to Federal Student Aid regulations and reconcile Federal Direct Loans.
  • Interface with the business office regarding student loan issues and student loan returns, as well as with the Department of Education (COD) regarding loan distribution and loan issues/problems.
  • Direct and oversee administration of Texas grant programs district-wide, determining, verifying, and awarding various State Grants as well as other available student scholarships, grants, and loans.
  • Provide information and counseling to students regarding the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy, veteran's benefits, student loans, scholarships, and grants, and assist in the completion and processing of applications.
  • Stay up-to-date with regulations and changes affecting Financial Aid/Veteran (VA) Financial Aid benefits and interpret regulations to efficiently administer the program.
  • Update the Computer Procedures Manual, as needed, and assist in the development of financial aid forms and consumer information, training Advisors on financial aid processing or awarding procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with the Financial Aid administrator's professional code of ethics.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required; Master's degree from an accredited institution preferred.
  • Four (4) years of directly related experience required; five (5) years of experience preferred.
Working Conditions

This is a sedentary position that requires sitting most of the time. The position involves talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking, and repetitive motions. The work environment is relatively free from unpleasant conditions or hazards, and the position is located in an office setting.
