KIPP DC currently serves over 2,000 students and, at full capacity, will serve nearly 3,600 students along with numerous alumni. Our network includes multiple middle schools and elementary schools.

Position Overview

As a member of our team at KIPP DC, you will be an enthusiastic educator igniting the academic passions of students in grades 5 through 8. Your love for mathematics, possibly stemming from your own challenges in the subject, will drive you to demonstrate its relevance in everyday life. You will cultivate an environment where students feel safe to make mistakes, ask questions, and excel academically.

Role Type: Full-time, Exempt, 10 months

Daily Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development and Instruction:

Adapt and implement a challenging, standards-aligned curriculum Create academically rigorous lesson plans, unit outlines, rubrics, and assessments Utilize data to guide instructional choices Provide daily feedback to students on their performance and tailor plans to meet individual learning needs

Fostering a Positive School and Classroom Environment:

Uphold and embody the school's values, policies, and culture Build strong relationships with students, families, colleagues, and staff Maintain open communication with parents regarding student progress Effectively manage a classroom of up to 30 students Participate in essential school events, including staff meetings and parent-teacher conferences

Embracing a Growth Mindset:

Set and pursue ambitious professional goals each year Engage in giving and receiving constructive feedback from peers Participate in both school-wide and individual professional development opportunities

Staff Requirements:

Proficient in operating a computer and office equipment Capable of occasional moderate lifting and moving Maintain composure under stress Interpret policies, procedures, and data effectively Communicate proficiently in both verbal and written forms

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree (REQUIRED) Valid Teacher Certification or willingness to obtain certification (REQUIRED) Successful completion of a Criminal Background Check
