Job Title: Construction Project Manager

Join Chesterfield County Public Schools as a Construction Project Manager and take on a challenging role that requires strong leadership and project management skills. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of construction projects from initiation to closeout.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate charrettes and meetings with stakeholders to determine project requirements, including feasibility, scope, cost, and schedule.
  • Develop and monitor project budgets, manage consultant and contractor invoices, and work collaboratively with the Construction Contract Administrator and Director for final review.
  • Procure architectural, engineering, professional, and construction services, participate in interviews, and support contract negotiations.
  • Serve as the Owner's Representative for contractors, consultants, suppliers, and regulatory agencies to manage projects.
  • Monitor and review projects through all phases, ensuring they are programmed, designed, and constructed in accordance with budgets, scope, specifications, time schedules, and other contract requirements.
  • Coordinate with staff, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies for timely review and approval of plans and drawings, technical reviews, permit applications, surveys, regulatory reviews, and community meetings.
  • Conduct regular meetings with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to monitor progress, anticipate obstacles, and resolve project issues.
  • Prepare regular and updated project status reports, schedules, and cost estimates, and maintain project records and documentation.
  • Visit construction sites multiple times during each work week, complete documentation for site visits and meetings, and verify the contractor's conformance to the production schedule.
  • Ensure the contractor's work conforms to specifications, the contractor is meeting safety requirements, and the contractor is on schedule to deliver the work.
  • Maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with internal and external clients and vendors.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of work experience in project management, preferably in the public or governmental building construction sector.
  • Valid VA Driver's License.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex plans and specifications, administer contracts, analyze and evaluate complex issues, and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
