Shift: Night - 6:00 PM to 7:30 AM, Wednesday to Friday

POSITION OVERVIEW


The Senior Polysomnography Specialist oversees the daily functions of the Sleep Laboratory. This role is responsible for monitoring and evaluating Sleep Lab quality, adherence to policies and procedures, as well as staff and equipment performance. The specialist will provide education and guidance to patients and their families regarding sleep disorders and available treatments. Additionally, this position involves collaboration with referring physicians concerning patient outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conducts polysomnographic assessments in a clinical environment, including oxygen and nasal continuous positive airway pressure titrations.
  • Evaluates studies and prepares reports for physician review. Accurately documents all relevant patient events in accordance with departmental protocols.
  • Effectively communicates instructions, results, and pertinent information to patients, healthcare providers, and family members.
  • Calibrates and performs routine maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment, coordinating with manufacturers for repairs as necessary. Ensures all equipment is cleaned to maintain infection control standards.
  • Regularly consults with the Medical Director regarding patient assessments.
  • Maintains standards for the completeness of Continuous Quality Improvement and Quality Control metrics.
  • Trains and orients new staff members in the Sleep Lab.
  • Implements performance enhancement initiatives, including educational opportunities and staff development.
  • Communicates concerns and potential solutions to the Department Manager or Director.
  • Maintains an up-to-date Policy and Procedure Manual.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • In-depth knowledge of Polysomnographic Care modalities, therapies, equipment, and medications.
  • Ability to read, write, and adhere to flow chart protocols as required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and manage stressful situations.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Commitment to following established safety, infection control, and isolation protocols consistently.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and respond to time-sensitive demands.
  • Proficient in maintaining and troubleshooting audio and video equipment.
  • Advanced computer skills, including data entry, information security, electronic medical documentation, handheld scanning, and email.

EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

- EDUCATION: Associate's degree or equivalent experience beyond the minimum qualifications.

- EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 3 years in the field.
