  • Underwrite and price complex new and renewal risks, handle agency exceptions and communicate decisions effectively.
  • Manage individual fleet book/portfolio, pricing, renewal, retention and risk performance.
  • Effectively manage agent relationships by communicating business appetite, risk acceptability parameters, request for endorsement processing expediting agency requests for service.
  • Communicate risk acceptability and pricing proposals for risks outside individual underwriting authority.
  • Provide technical advice for less experienced underwriters, including providing technical expertise for policy audits and risks falling outside underwriters' authority levels.
  • Work effectively with various enterprise departments to manage end customer service and distribution.
  • Create and maintain reports to effectively manage assigned agent base and distribution channel.
  • Escalate and assist with product development and enhancements based on competitor analysis and customer feedback.
  • Act as a company representative at agency meetings and industry events.

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk and Insurance or related field required.
  • CPCU or other industry designation required.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in commercial auto underwriting.
  • Advanced underwriting skills required.
  • Advanced understanding of exposure identification, evaluation, quantification and classification.
  • Advanced understanding of application of proper rates and ability to analyze rate adequacy.
  • Intermediate computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, Internet, e-mail).
