Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Sr Principal Airworthiness Engineer to join our team at Northrop Grumman. This role is responsible for developing and implementing airworthiness plans, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver complex systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop basis of certification, means of compliance, and certification activities for complex total systems
  • Review and coordinate with other airworthiness engineers and internal engineering disciplines to ensure airworthiness compliance
  • Perform functional and process analyses, requirements allocation, and definition studies to translate customer requirements into criteria and requirements
  • Interface with Office of Airworthiness, Program IPTs, Program Office, and Customer community as required
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 8 years of relevant experience; OR Master of Science (MS) in a related STEM discipline and 6 years of relevant experience
  • Work experience on manned or unmanned aircraft systems with minimum 6 years professional experience, with at least 3 years in an assignment working Airworthiness (Military or Civil)
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain DoD Top Secret clearance, can start employment with Interim TS and active DoD Secret clearance
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
Preferred Qualifications
  • An active DoD Top Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
  • NAVAIR Airworthiness and Cybersafe Office experience
  • Experience with Vehicle Management Systems (VMS) and / or Vehicle Control Functions (VCF)
  • Military, especially US Navy, aircraft development or modification experience
