Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Principal Engineer - Hydraulic Systems to join our team at Northrop Grumman. The successful candidate will have a strong background in hydraulic system development and integration, with a focus on aircraft applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop hydraulic systems and components for aircraft applications
  • Perform system-level analysis and simulation to ensure system performance and airworthiness
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate hydraulic systems with other aircraft subsystems
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and specifications for hydraulic systems
  • Participate in technical exchange meetings and program reviews to ensure progress and compliance with requirements
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in a related STEM discipline and 8 years of relevant experience; OR MS in a related STEM discipline and 6 years of relevant experience
  • Must have professional experience related to the development and integration of hydraulic systems in either commercial or military aircraft applications
  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
  • Master's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with focus on thermodynamic, fluid mechanic and/or heat transfer disciplines
  • Experience with aircraft subsystem development, with requirements definition, specification development, component analysis, procurement, source selection, integration and test and verification for advance aircraft
  • Experience performing thermodynamic, fluid mechanic and/or heat transfer analysis related to military/commercial aircraft and subsystems
  • Experience modeling fluid systems utilizing Amesim, MATLAB/Simulink, Thermal Desktop, Flomaster, and/or STAR-CCM+ software
  • Experience with the military airworthiness certification process using MIL-HDBK-516
  • Experience interpreting component detail drawings, specifications, installation drawings, and test procedures
  • Experience in supporting pursuits and proposals, including generating, reviewing, and approving technical proposals and BOEs
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership related to integrated product teams, including supplier and customer (internal and external) relations

Salary Range: $114,900 - $172,300

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
