Key Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys in evaluating case materials, including the collection and analysis of relevant information and the preparation of summaries of significant legal decisions and opinions.
  • Review and assess new and intricate cases, ensuring alignment with established legal standards.
  • Support the determination of probable cause by analyzing investigative reports, identifying the necessity for additional evidence, and strategizing the acquisition of such information.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into case facts and applicable laws, utilizing various legal research tools and public records to prepare cases and ascertain potential legal actions.
  • Facilitate pretrial preparations by organizing and reviewing discovery materials, interviewing witnesses, and compiling summaries.
  • Assist attorneys in negotiating settlements and preparing necessary documentation for case resolution.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and proposed orders.
  • Organize and maintain case files, documents, and evidence exhibits.
  • Summarize depositions, interrogatories, and testimonies to aid attorneys in case preparation.
  • Utilize various software and databases to generate reports, charts, and trial exhibits.
  • Provide training and guidance to team members as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a Paralegal Certificate with a minimum of one year of paralegal experience; or a High School Diploma/GED with at least three years of paralegal experience.
  • At least one year of experience in automated litigation support, with a solid understanding of technology and resources used in federal case management.
  • Familiarity with forfeiture laws, policies, and procedures, along with trial experience, is preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of legal research principles and methodologies sufficient to execute case development and documentation tasks.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, including proficiency in legal writing.
  • Strong organizational abilities and prioritization skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and other relevant software, including databases.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer service; adaptable and capable of managing multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to collaborate within a team environment, delivering high-quality work while maintaining professionalism under pressure.

This position requires U.S. Citizenship and a thorough background investigation.
