Job Title: Employment Specialist

Families Forward, a member of The Fedcap Group, is seeking a dedicated and mission-driven individual to fill the role of Employment Specialist. This position is an integral component of our workforce development program model at our Houlton, Maine opportunity center location.

Job Summary:

The Employment Specialist will provide employment-focused case management services to assist individuals receiving TANF benefits in addressing barriers and achieving employment goals. The caseload will include individuals considered "job-ready" and those with medical barriers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish trust and rapport with program participants.
  • Conduct comprehensive intakes to assist participants with understanding and exploring their needs, strengths, interests, aptitudes, experience, and capabilities.
  • Partner with participants to jointly develop a service plan, known as a Family Contract Amendment (FCA), which outlines their short-term and long-term employment and other goals.
  • Meet regularly with participants to document progress towards goals and provide ongoing orientation to ensure they are clear on their TANF and program requirements.
  • Build effective partnerships with external providers to ensure participants have access to and utilize needed services and supports.
  • Maintain exceptional record keeping and document all communication and contact with participants and external partners in FedcapCARES.
  • Makes requests for needed supports services to the Office Family Independence (OFI) Support Services Unit in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Uphold all agency policies and expectations in performing their job.
  • Run reports in FedcapCARES and use data to plan daily and weekly tasks.
  • Contact and reschedule participants who miss appointments.
  • Secure releases and build effective communication with participants' medical, behavioral health, and other providers.
  • May work with a targeted caseload focusing on a specific group or population.
  • Represent Fedcap with all stakeholders and in the community in a positive and professional manner.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher education and/or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated track record for providing exceptional customer service.
  • Valid driver's license, required.
Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
