Families Forward, a member of The Fedcap Group, is seeking a dedicated and mission-driven individual to fill the role of Employment Specialist. This position is an integral component of our workforce development program model at our Houlton, Maine opportunity center location.
Job Summary:As an Employment Specialist, you will provide employment-focused case management services to assist individuals receiving TANF benefits in addressing barriers and achieving employment goals. Your caseload will include individuals considered "job-ready" and those with medical barriers.
Key Responsibilities:- Establish trust and rapport with program participants.
- Conduct comprehensive intakes to assist participants with understanding and exploring their needs, strengths, interests, aptitudes, experience, and capabilities.
- Partner with participants to jointly develop a service plan, known as a Family Contract Amendment (FCA), which outlines their short-term and long-term employment and other goals.
- Meet regularly with participants to document progress towards goals and provide ongoing orientation to ensure they are clear on their TANF and program requirements.
- Build effective partnerships with external providers to ensure participants have access to and utilize needed services and supports.
- Maintain exceptional record keeping and document all communication and contact with participants and external partners in FedcapCARES.
- Makes requests for needed supports services to the Office Family Independence (OFI) Support Services Unit in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Uphold all agency policies and expectations in performing their job.
- Run reports in FedcapCARES and use data to plan daily and weekly tasks.
- Contact and reschedule participants who miss appointments.
- Secure releases and build effective communication with participants' medical, behavioral health, and other providers.
- May work with a targeted caseload focusing on a specific group or population.
- Represent Fedcap with all stakeholders and in the community in a positive and professional manner.
- Bachelor's degree or higher education and/or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated track record for providing exceptional customer service.
- Valid driver's license, required.
This job operates in a professional office environment. You will routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
