Job Title: Employment Specialist

Families Forward, a member of The Fedcap Group, is seeking a dedicated and mission-driven individual to fill the role of Employment Specialist. This position is an integral component of our workforce development program model at our Houlton, Maine opportunity center location.

Job Summary:

As an Employment Specialist, you will provide employment-focused case management services to assist individuals receiving TANF benefits in addressing barriers and achieving employment goals. Your caseload will include individuals considered "job-ready" and those with medical barriers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish trust and rapport with program participants.
  • Conduct comprehensive intakes to assist participants with understanding and exploring their needs, strengths, interests, aptitudes, experience, and capabilities.
  • Partner with participants to jointly develop a service plan, known as a Family Contract Amendment (FCA), which outlines their short-term and long-term employment and other goals.
  • Meet regularly with participants to document progress towards goals and provide ongoing orientation to ensure they are clear on their TANF and program requirements.
  • Build effective partnerships with external providers to ensure participants have access to and utilize needed services and supports.
  • Maintain exceptional record keeping and document all communication and contact with participants and external partners in FedcapCARES.
  • Makes requests for needed supports services to the Office Family Independence (OFI) Support Services Unit in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Uphold all agency policies and expectations in performing their job.
  • Run reports in FedcapCARES and use data to plan daily and weekly tasks.
  • Contact and reschedule participants who miss appointments.
  • Secure releases and build effective communication with participants' medical, behavioral health, and other providers.
  • May work with a targeted caseload focusing on a specific group or population.
  • Represent Fedcap with all stakeholders and in the community in a positive and professional manner.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher education and/or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated track record for providing exceptional customer service.
  • Valid driver's license, required.
Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. You will routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
