Job Description: Registered Nurse (RN)

The Registered Nurse assumes a pivotal role within VisionQuest by spearheading our approach to non-clinical health service delivery. This involves evaluating, facilitating, and overseeing all aspects of the children's medical and dental care. Our focus on disease prevention and health upkeep means collaborating closely with medical providers to ensure children in our care receive the best health services available.

  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA standards.
  • Maintain accurate medical files and guarantee timely and accurate documentation in the VisionQuest database and ORR-UC Portal.
  • Regularly perform audits to check for compliance.
Medical Services Coordination & Response:
  • Provide timely medical, dental, and mental health services for children using local providers, ensuring compliance with ORR, VisionQuest, and state licensing requirements.
  • Organize and coordinate the scheduling and transportation of children to their medical, dental, and mental health appointments.
  • Collaborate with health professionals to uphold health and safety standards, including adherence to licensing requirements, disease reporting, immunizations, injury prevention, medication management for out-of-home childcare, and leveraging community health and mental health resources.
  • Respond immediately to emergency medical needs of children in care.
Leadership and Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Maintain professional conduct and build strong partnerships with stakeholders.
  • Oversee the medical department, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Hold regular meetings with Medical Coordinators for updates, training, and guidance.
  • Supervise, guide, evaluate, and discipline the medical coordinator team as needed, according to VisionQuest's policies.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited institution; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is preferred for advanced practice roles.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the relevant state or jurisdiction.
  • A minimum of one year experience working with children and adolescents.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

The Registered Nurse may lift and carry up to 10 pounds frequently, up to 20 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds infrequently. Tasks may involve standing or walking 50% of the day, sitting 50% of the day. May bend, stoop, reach, and grasp as necessary.
