Position Overview:

The Inventory Control Specialist is tasked with overseeing inventory levels and ensuring accuracy within a distribution facility. This role encompasses responsibilities such as reporting, conducting physical inventory checks, and performing system audits. The specialist will utilize the inventory management system to prepare and monitor materials and products, aligning with shipping and receiving requirements to fulfill customer expectations. Additional support may be necessary depending on the specific operations of the business, which could involve managing product holds/releases, recalls, and returns. Compliance with specific practices and regulations, such as food safety, may also be required. Forklift operation experience is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an ongoing inventory of materials and products, generating relevant inventory reports.
  • Conduct daily cycle counts and inventory audits, tracking and managing any damaged products in stock, and providing necessary reports to management.
  • Verify inventory records against physical counts, investigating and reporting any discrepancies.
  • Coordinate product recalls, holds/releases, and conduct product infestation audits as needed.
  • Monitor pest control programs if required at the facility.
  • Operate a forklift as part of daily duties.

Quality Assurance Responsibilities:

If involved in quality functions, the specialist will:

  • Ensure the facility is always prepared for inspections (e.g., SQFI, FDA, or other customer requirements).
  • Facilitate quality and regulatory training and manage the site's quality management program.
  • Maintain the quality management portal and assist in drafting or revising site Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED is required; an associate degree or two years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a warehouse or distribution setting is necessary. Industry-specific experience (e.g., food grade) may be required based on the site.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards is preferred.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong attention to detail is essential.
  • Forklift operation experience is mandatory.
  • Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings.
