Your Role:
The Technical Processing Specialist (Zipper) will be responsible for the operation, control, and maintenance of various high-speed bag manufacturing equipment. This role involves safely executing changeovers, troubleshooting equipment and process issues, and making machine adjustments that directly influence quality, output, and waste levels. The specialist will ensure all tasks are performed safely and will report any potential safety risks to management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular quality inspections on finished products following detailed quality control protocols throughout each shift.
  • Process daily scrap materials in accordance with established procedures.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform minor mechanical repairs as needed.
  • Execute Autonomous Maintenance (AM) on machinery and adhere to sustainability practices.
  • Thread plastic film through production machinery.
  • Resolve bag and carton jams within equipment, utilizing manual methods or tools as necessary.
  • Input quality and production data into relevant computer systems.
  • Manually operate packaging machinery, including occasional hand stacking of finished products onto pallets.
  • Perform equipment setup modifications by removing, changing, adjusting, or installing components.
  • Implement process adjustments to ensure the production of high-quality finished goods.
  • Maintain adequate supplies of raw materials and packaging during production runs.
  • Carry out daily housekeeping and organization tasks in the work area.
  • Keep departmental performance metrics and reports updated.
  • Communicate effectively with peers and supervisors regarding departmental performance and safety, quality, and production metrics.
  • May assist in coordinating team activities related to safety, quality, and production scheduling.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Fulfill all mandatory training requirements promptly.
  • Undertake additional routine and unique tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to comprehend instructions, work procedures, and make informed decisions while managing various responsibilities.
  • Willingness to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work occasional mandatory overtime.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capability to perform effectively under pressure while prioritizing tasks.
  • Ability to work at various elevations as needed.
  • Experience operating complex machinery both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in problem-solving and decision-making without direct supervision.
