Job Title: Help Desk Specialist

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for providing technical support to employees and ensuring the smooth operation of the organization's computer systems and networks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide front-line technical support for computer hardware and software, printers, and other devices.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the organization's local area network and Microsoft Exchange Mail System.
  • Install new user accounts, create batch administration scripts, and run system backups and disaster recovery operations.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot problems via telephone, email, and on-site.
  • Set up security access for new employees, disable access for terminated employees, and manage changes to employee permissions.
  • Perform software deployments, software patching, asset management, licensing compliance, computer security, support ticketing, and reporting.
  • Ensure the security of data stored on the organization's servers.
  • Assist with the maintenance of an active directory and group policies to enforce security.
  • Obtain quotes for all programs' networking, computer, and printer needs.
  • Set up voicemail and phones for employees.
  • Assist with firewall setup and configuration.
  • Assist with video conferencing unit setup and maintenance.
  • Set up workstations for new staff members in a timely manner.
  • Generate ad hoc programming reports as deemed necessary by project needs.
  • Participate in all phases of network infrastructure solutions in support of current and future business requirements.
  • Assist in the development and establishment of standards, strategies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Monitor the environment for incidents and work to find resolutions.
  • Assist with managing hardware lifecycle, including decommissioning, surplus, and disposal of hardware and peripherals.
  • Comply with federal laws and regulations as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Privacy Act of 1974.

The work includes some variations and may involve different and unrelated processes and methods.

Contacts:

The personal contacts are with employees in the organization but outside the immediate department.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

The work is sedentary, and the employee must be able to read, write, speak, and hear.

Supervisory and Management Responsibility:

This position has no formally assigned supervisory responsibility or authority.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Associate degree in information technology and three (3) years' experience, or high school diploma or GED and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience.
