Job Title: Mechanical Testing Co-op

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Testing Co-op to join our Analytical Technology organization at E Ink Corporation.

About the Position:

This co-op position is part of our Electro-Optical Lab, responsible for measuring new ink films to be used in the next generation electronic paper display platforms. The co-op will work closely with our full-time lab staff to maintain the lab and complete testing by due dates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct measurements on color, device performance, and adhesion using a combination of off-the-shelf and in-house built instrumentation.
  • Work with scientists and engineers to determine the best experiment protocol, design and build instrumentation as required, initiate tests, and write new standard operating procedures.
  • Prepare experimental display devices and subsystems and measure their mechanical, electrical, and optical properties.

Requirements:

  • Mechanical engineering or physics major or similar major.
  • A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks and ability to design simple static and dynamic mechanisms.
  • Comfortable working with hand tools.
  • Ability to analyze data using Excel.
  • Motivated self-starter with good communication skills.
  • Good organization skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to manage own schedule.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with mechanical testing equipment such as Instrom.
  • Familiarity with LabVIEW, JMP, SQL, or Python programming.
  • Flexibility with regard to schedule.
