The Senior Vice President of Public Affairs will oversee OATS's policy research initiatives, guiding the development of our public policy strategies and influencing the implementation of effective solutions in both policy and practice. This role involves leading the Public Policy Institute (PPI), a respected think tank that shapes our policy priorities and collaborates with experts to enhance our research and analysis efforts. The SVP will represent OATS at various forums, delivering presentations and engaging in discussions to promote our mission and insights.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establishes the strategic vision for OATS's public policy research and analysis, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and the effective adoption of solutions.
  • Leads the Public Policy Institute (PPI), developing and executing its strategic plan while maintaining a reputation for excellence in thought leadership.
  • Provides strategic guidance to enhance PPI's influence in shaping public policy at all levels, ensuring effective outreach to key stakeholders.
  • Identifies and anticipates emerging issues that impact older Americans, positioning OATS to address these challenges with innovative insights.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor on public policy matters, supporting senior leadership in strategic decision-making.
  • Manages a high-performing team of experts, fostering an environment of innovation and scholarly excellence.
  • Ensures the production of high-quality policy analysis and research, effectively communicating findings to diverse audiences.
  • Oversees a substantial annual budget and a team of policy professionals, facilitating regular strategic meetings and managing performance evaluations.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree or Juris Doctorate required.
  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in public policy or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in a leadership role, demonstrating a strategic approach to initiatives.
  • Extensive knowledge in aging policy, health policy, or economic security.
  • Proven experience in shaping public policy research agendas and influencing outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of articulating complex policy issues to varied audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to represent the organization effectively in public policy discussions.
