Job Overview

SUMMARY: The Process Equipment Engineer is tasked with the design, construction, and upkeep of specialized manufacturing equipment.

This role involves proactively identifying enhancements for equipment and processes, particularly focusing on advanced systems. Regular responsibilities may include modernizing existing high-vacuum systems, developing automated workflows, innovating new machinery and their operational procedures, and suggesting new equipment solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and maintain control systems for semi-automated processing machinery.
  • Ensure equipment meets NFPA 79 standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with electrical and mechanical instruments.
  • Conduct repairs and maintenance on production and research equipment.
  • Upgrade and maintain current process control systems.
  • Draft and fabricate process fixtures.
  • Develop and implement new process control systems.
  • Provide training for technicians on equipment operation.
  • Oversee the maintenance program.
  • Manage the calibration program.
  • Create and document training procedures for personnel.
  • Produce and manage drawings supporting production processes.
  • Ensure optimal equipment efficiency.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, or a related field (Required).
  • Proficiency in LabVIEW programming.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex electro-mechanical systems.
  • Strong skills in electrical, pneumatic, plumbing, and high-vacuum systems.
  • Experience with CAD software, preferably Fusion 360 or SolidWorks.
  • Familiarity with National Instruments hardware.
  • Solid understanding of both digital and analog electronics.
  • Capability to design control and motion systems.
  • Hands-on wiring skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Self-motivated and organized.
  • Excellent verbal and presentation skills.
  • Normal hearing range.
