Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

The role of Engineering Equipment Operator is vital for the operations within the U.S. Department of the Interior. The selected candidate will be responsible for the operation of various types of engineering and construction machinery. Key responsibilities include:

  • Operating gas or diesel-powered machinery, including road graders, bulldozers, front-end loaders, backhoes, and trench diggers.
  • Utilizing equipment for tasks such as pushing, pulling, excavating, grading, and leveling earth and refuse.
  • Performing maintenance activities on roads, including snow removal during winter conditions.
Work Environment
The position is based in a scenic area, providing an opportunity to work in a natural setting while contributing to the maintenance and preservation of vital infrastructure.

Employment Conditions

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • The appointment is subject to a background investigation.
  • Compliance with the Selective Service Registration Act is mandatory for male applicants.
  • The selected candidate will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronic Funds Transfer Program.
  • A negative drug test result is required prior to appointment, with ongoing random testing.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary, along with a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Education

For this position, experience is prioritized over educational qualifications.
