Job Summary

The Executive Chef is responsible for overseeing the culinary operations at Albemarle Health & Rehabilitation Center. This includes:

  • Preparing meals in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local guidelines and regulations, as well as established policies and procedures.
  • Upholding the center's mission statement and attending to the nutritional needs of residents with integrity and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities

A successful Executive Chef will be able to:

  • Ensure all culinary policies and procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
  • Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus that are palatable, appetizing in appearance, and meet the dietary needs of residents.
  • Assist the Director of Food Services with inventory, ordering, storing, and other duties deemed necessary and appropriate.
  • Follow established Infection Control and Universal Precaution policies and procedures while performing tasks.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience as a chef and meets all educational requirements needed for the position.
  • Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance.
  • Ability to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with residents, families, community members, and facility staff.
  • Prioritization and time management skills.
  • Ability to assist management in all aspects of the culinary department in accordance with company policies and procedures and all mandated regulations.
  • Knowledge of the English language.
  • Customer service skills.
Physical Requirements

The Executive Chef will be required to:

  • Stand up to 95% of the time.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds 25% of the time.
  • Push and pull up to 50 pounds 25% of the time.
  • Bend, twist, reach, etc. 25% of the time.
Working Conditions

The Executive Chef will be exposed to:

  • Chemicals, both hazardous and caustic, that can affect eyes, hands, face, lungs, etc.
  • Confidential materials.
  • Sound levels may be high due to machinery.
