Job Overview

In response to the company's growth, Fleet Services by Cox Automotive is seeking a Mobile Trailer Repair Specialist II to join our dedicated team. This role involves on-site work, and we do not offer emergency roadside repairs. If you are looking for a stable and rewarding position, we invite you to consider this opportunity. The Mobile Trailer Repair Specialist II will conduct certified DOT inspections, preventative maintenance checks, light repairs, and other assigned tasks including work on aluminum and chem-lite, trailer brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps, engines, liftgates, brake chambers, welding, fabrication, and panel replacements. The work will be performed at customer locations. The Mobile Trailer Repair Specialist II will have the opportunity to undertake more complex repairs under the guidance of a Senior Mobile Trailer Technician or higher. This role also involves assisting senior technicians with repairs while acquiring advanced mechanical skills. A successful Mobile Trailer Repair Specialist II will adhere to all company policies and achieve high performance metrics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on ThermoKing, Carrier, and other refrigeration systems, as well as DOT inspections on Freightliner and Mack Trucks.
  • Diagnose and repair or replace compressors, coils, and electrical components.
  • Consistently follow safe operating practices and procedures.
  • Manage parts inventory and equipment on the company-issued service truck, conducting periodic reconciliations.
  • Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, performing safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections.
  • Apply knowledge gained through training and experience to effectively perform job duties.
  • Engage with clients and customers to assess their needs, providing assistance and resolving issues.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrate integrity and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance, DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs in a mobile environment.
  • Respond to unscheduled service requests dispatched by the call center.
  • Utilize hand tools, precision instruments, and trailer tools, including welding equipment.
  • Document work performed and findings according to company standards using a company-issued iOS device.
  • Complete DOT forms and other documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Work independently and manage daily schedules effectively.
  • Maintain high productivity levels in line with Standard Repair Times.
  • Procure parts from approved vendors as needed for repairs.
  • Communicate with management and support teams regarding repair estimates and findings.
  • Adhere to safety, health, and environmental policies and regulations.
  • Participate in required safety training programs.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with customers and vendors.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various trailer systems.
  • Stay updated on safety protocols and procedures.
  • Diagnose and repair various trailer equipment and systems.
  • Inspect and test equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Assist junior technicians with diagnostics.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED with 3 years of experience in a related field, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with refrigerated equipment.
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record required.
  • Valid DOT Medical Card or ability to obtain one within 72 hours of hire.
  • Must possess and provide a set of hand tools necessary for the job.
  • OEM training and certifications are preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Complete all required company training.
Certifications Required or Obtainable Within 18 Months
  • ASE T8 (PMI) certification.
Preferred Certifications
  • ASE 608/609 certification.
  • ASE T4 (Brakes) certification.
  • ASE T5 (Suspension) certification.
  • ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems) certification.
  • ASE T7 (HVAC) certification.
