Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Field Services Engineer to play a vital role in supporting a leading manufacturer of advanced tube and sheet metal fabrication technologies.

Travel Requirements:

This position involves extensive travel, up to 90%, across the USA and Canada.

With a legacy spanning over 90 years, our client is a premier designer and manufacturer of highly regarded CNC machine tool equipment. They are among the largest producers of automated systems tailored for structural steel fabrication and equipment utilized in the forging sector. Their headquarters is situated in Baltimore, MD.

Role Responsibilities:

The Field Services Engineer is integral to our operations. In this capacity, you will deliver hands-on technical support to diagnose and resolve issues associated with CNC machinery. Your exceptional customer service abilities and high-level problem-solving skills will be essential.

Your role will involve direct client interaction, providing assistance with intricate technical challenges on-site. Following your training in Baltimore, you will have the opportunity to shadow a Senior Technician, and once prepared, you will manage your own client assignments, working independently in the field while receiving technical support via phone.

Our client is committed to fostering a well-trained workforce, offering ongoing training sessions at their Academy, which features six training rooms and two conference rooms for organized courses.

During your travels, you will oversee all on-site installation, repair, maintenance, and testing tasks. When not traveling, you will assist customers in troubleshooting equipment through phone consultations and remote connections to machinery. Your duties will also encompass producing timely and detailed service reports, collaborating with the technical team, and sharing insights across the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Technical Degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Mechanics, Industrial Electronics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in technical field service with CNC equipment is essential.
  • Experience in the steel fabrication industry is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and procedures; proficiency in writing professional reports.
  • Competence in using Microsoft Office Suite for document preparation and report maintenance.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and maintain exceptional attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel and participate in various training and development opportunities.
  • Excellent communication skills are a must.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Commissioning both new and existing machines.
  • Providing operator and maintenance training to customers.
  • Conducting field repairs and maintenance.
  • Offering hotline service support.
  • Traveling for service calls throughout the USA and Canada.
  • Documenting service activities comprehensively.
  • Building and maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Delivering practical technical solutions and advice to clients.
