The Legal Conflicts Specialist will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and resolving conflicts related to new matters and parties, in accordance with the applicable Rules of Professional Conduct.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing and addressing conflicts of interest for new matters and parties.
  • Engaging with originating attorneys regarding potential conflicts.
  • Conducting research and investigation into possible conflicts to ascertain whether consent can be obtained as per the applicable Rules of Professional Conduct.
  • Collaborating with originating attorneys to secure consent for necessary disclosures.
  • Consulting with General Counsel or their designated representatives as required.
  • Documenting conflict-related decisions and issues through notes or written memoranda.
  • Drafting correspondence for conflict waivers and consents for review by the requesting attorney and General Counsel.
  • Researching and assisting in the resolution of conflicts associated with potential lateral hiring.
  • Evaluating and implementing client/matter screens and former-client notifications, in partnership with Records staff, to minimize or avoid disqualification due to imputed conflicts of interest.
  • Updating and suggesting modifications to Firm templates for documenting engagements and informed consent.
  • Performing additional tasks as assigned by General Counsel or their designee related to client engagements, conflicts of interest, Firm training, and adherence to the applicable Rules of Professional Conduct.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school.
  • In-depth understanding of the Rules of Professional Responsibility.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in conflicts or equivalent expertise.
  • Active membership in good standing with the Oregon State Bar and the relevant state bar.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in technology, particularly with Intapp Conflicts, Intapp Open, Intapp Walls, and Intapp Terms.
