Job Summary:
The primary duties of this role encompass:
The Culinary Services Support Staff position is a part-time, non-benefited role focused on assisting with the daily functions of our culinary services. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: mastering both entry-level and intermediate culinary tasks, maintaining cleanliness, restocking supplies, and providing a welcoming atmosphere for guests. This role also involves addressing operational challenges, organizing equipment and inventory, and ensuring that all activities comply with established policies and regulations. We offer flexible scheduling options to accommodate personal commitments such as education, sports, and family.
Our campus serves a diverse population, including residential students, commuters, and faculty members. The culinary services feature a spacious dining center, a grab-and-go retail operation, and a cashless micro-market within the residence hall.
This position requires a flexible work schedule, including potential weekend shifts, to meet the needs of the institution and culinary services.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on the evolving needs of the institution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, store, and cook food items while adhering to safe food handling practices and departmental guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and inspect kitchen equipment and food preparation areas to exceed safety and sanitation standards.
- Organize and manage food inventory and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Monitor the freshness and quality of ingredients through regular inspections.
- Prepare and serve food to guests with attention to presentation and portion control.
- Open and close facilities according to established procedures.
- Assist colleagues and team members as needed.
- Support daily operations by utilizing resources effectively and adapting to changes in service demands.
- Contribute to the efficient operation of campus dining and retail food services.
- Help maintain a clean and inviting dining environment, including logistical support for guest areas.
- Foster a welcoming atmosphere that enhances community engagement.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and sanitation regulations during food preparation and service.
- Collaborate with team members to address operational needs, especially during peak service times.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year of experience in customer service or hospitality.
- Willingness to complete TIPS Training after hire.
- Ability to work flexible hours as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two or more years of experience in customer service or hospitality.
