Role Summary:

The Microbiology Research Specialist position is situated within Amway's Microbiology Quality Control Laboratory and is responsible for delivering microbiological expertise to bolster laboratory operations and supply chain efficiency. This role ensures timely delivery of test results while maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations.

Team Dynamics:

As part of a vibrant team reporting to the Microbiology QC Manager, you will collaborate with a group of dedicated lab personnel and quality engineers who share a commitment to product safety.

Unique Aspects of the Role:

This newly established position is pivotal as the QC Microbiology Lab at Amway's headquarters undergoes significant renovations. This presents a rare opportunity to gain hands-on experience in equipment qualification, influence operational optimization, and enhance quality systems.

Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Ensuring timely delivery of test results and reports
  • Investigating deviations and out-of-specification results
  • Developing and reviewing procedures
  • Maintaining Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
  • Conducting equipment qualifications and calibrations
  • Supporting supply chain projects
  • Training laboratory staff
  • Ensuring laboratory compliance and audit readiness

Qualifications:

We require:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a cGMP or GLP environment
  • Proven experience in Quality System Management
  • Prior microbiology expertise
  • Background in root cause analysis, out-of-specification investigations, and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead and influence
  • A self-motivated attitude with a growth mindset
  • Experience with FDA BAM, USP, and AOAC testing methodologies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, ERP systems, and LIMS, particularly Excel
  • Exposure to a broad spectrum of food manufacturing operations with a focus on quality risk assessment
